Kiss 2018 - Beth J Ross
Acrylic on canvas
23 x 31cm
Kiss 2018 (2022), part of an ongoing series of remembered kisses. Painted after thinking about the relationship between physical contact and loved ones during the lock-downs, and remembering kisses from family, friends and lovers over the years.
Ross is a UK-born artist exploring themes such as memory, emotion, place, and traces currently based in the North Shields. Having lived and worked across Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East, she draws upon her international experiences to investigate the intricate interplay between personal identity, cultural influences, feminine roles, memory, and the spaces we occupy. Ross creates paintings, drawing and installations that are characterised by their use of colour, hard edged shapes, and delicate layers of texture.
