Andrew Cheetham was born in Heywood, Manchester in 1971. He studied Art at Manchester Polytechnic, Liverpool John Moores University and Central St. Martins College of Art. He lives and works in Scarborough. He was selected as Artist in Residence at Knaresborough Castle and in Rosedale Abbey on the North York Moors and was recently shortlisted for The Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary. These latest works are based on sketches whilst traveling over the moors, using oil paint and a cold wax medium which allows the image to be built up in layers.
